Guide trainees efficiently with Qualification Profiles

Qualification Profiles turn your EPA curriculum into clear, reusable competency targets. Define the expected supervision levels for relevant EPAs once, then compare each trainee’s documented progress against them.

Why use Qualification Profiles?

  • Identify competency gaps quickly.
  • Provide tailored teaching and support.
  • Manage all trainees consistently and efficiently.
  • Prepare trainees for independent practice and entrustment.

What can a Qualification Profile represent?

  • Intermediate objectives, such as expectations after the first or second year
  • Requirements for a role or responsibility, such as working a night shift
  • Learning outcomes or simple subsets of an extensive EPA curriculum for a specific rotation
  • Final competency expectations at the end of training

Use Qualification Profiles in the Competency Explorer

Select a Qualification Profile in the Competency Explorer to compare all trainees with the same EPA-based requirements. This highlights who meets the target, who is close and where further development is needed.

Use these insights to identify suitable trainees for particular responsibilities and plan targeted teaching for those with competency gaps.

Tip: Create a role-specific profile, such as Night shift, to see which trainees already meet its EPA requirements and where targeted support is still needed.

Use Qualification Profiles for individual trainees

In an individual trainee’s competency profile, select a Qualification Profile to focus the view on its relevant EPAs and compare documented progress with the required supervision levels.

Qualification Profiles are also available in the prepared app, helping trainees and supervisors review progress and agree on the next learning priorities.

Create and manage Qualification Profiles

In the preparedCockpit, go to Admin → Qualification Profiles:

  1. Create and name a profile.
  2. Select the relevant EPAs.
  3. Define the required supervision levels for simple and complex situations.
  4. Save the profile and use it across the Cockpit and prepared app.

This Video demonstrates how to manage Qualification Profiles:

Important: To compare progress in the Cockpit, the trainee’s competency data must be shared with the institution.

Qualification Profiles support consistent, evidence-based decisions. The final entrustment decision remains with the responsible educators.
